If you were to look into a mirror and see yourself, who is it that you see? Do you see the person that you want others to view you as?
Our self-image was developed early on in our childhoods, from our parents, friends, and other influences that were important in our lives.
Some of these thoughts and views have stuck with many of us throughout our lives and continue to critique us.
Even though some are positive, it’s the negative thoughts that dwell over us.
It’s those same negative thoughts that you have been told that are holding you back from reaching your true potential, avoiding socializing with new people, never trying new things or even dressing a different way.
It’s time to change the way you think of yourself as an individual and start living life to its fullest without limits.
I know it’s easy to get caught up thinking you’re not good enough, or your appearance could always look better. This is because we often tend to look towards the media on how we are supposed to be dressed, start looking more superior, wealthier, and acting a certain way.
Having a poor thought on your self-image will greatly impact you on how productive you are and interact throughout your day.
We will go over some ways to help boost your confidence around your self-image so you can be more productive and interact with people that matter.
1. Accept and Love Who You Are
In order to move forward with changing the way we think of ourselves, you must first learn to accept and love who you currently are.
If you view yourself negatively, you will be discouraged and give up on changing.
Once you learn to accept and love who you are, you will feel more comfortable and motivated in changing some things about yourself in order to be a better person.
We see it time and time again where those who view themselves as worthless or in a negative way never really get out of that rut and just give up.
So first accept and love who you are, so you can move forward into becoming who you want to be.
2. Create a List of Your Positive Qualities
Write down a list of all your positive qualities, this does not have to be an extensive list just quick qualities you have that are positive.
This will make you realize that you do have positive qualities and which areas you are lacking so you can focus on improving them.
3. Ask Close People in Your Life to Describe Your Positive Qualities
Now you will ask your close friends and family what they see positive about you.
Cross-reference this with your list and see how they compare. This will let you know what others see in you that you may not have.
Once you have compiled both lists you will be able to see what your strong points are, not just what you see in yourself but what others see in you as well.
Keep both lists around so it can be a constant reminder that you do have many good qualities in you.
This will also help overcome negative and distorted thoughts you create about yourself that may arise in the future.
4. Develop Your Strengths and Use Positive Affirmations
Learn to build on your strong points and always give yourself positive affirmations. This will drive motivation and develop your strengths into perfection.
If people thought you were a well-organized person, learn to be even more organized and continue to improve.
Constantly be telling yourself “This is why I am worthy of love, this is why I am smart and this is why I am Important.”
5. Always Remember How Far You Come in Life
Remember how unique you are and how far you have come in life. Remember the times you overcame those obstacles that got you where you are today.
If you have made it this far, you are bound to find your greatness and keep pushing forward. Don’t let others ruin your day or hold you down from being who you want to be in life.
You are a strong, motivated, compassionate and devoted individual who will become the person you were born to be.
Keep this in mind and you will change the way you think of yourself and develop a sense of importance and value beyond what you imagined.
Everyone has some positive attributes about them, it’s up to the individual to find what those are and build on them.
Improve in the areas you lack and perfect the ones you already have. This will greatly improve your self-image and give you the confidence you need to change yourself and others around you.
Never stop improving, never give up and most of all never think it can’t be done!
